Person 1: What’s the deal with…?  [insert controvertial topic from the news cycle]

Person 2: @&$# %^+!!!

Person 1: Hold on. This is really important. We need to talk about…

Person 2: @&$# %^+!!!  @&$# %^+!!! @&$# %^+!!!

Person 1: Wow.

Person 2: [Insert rant]

Person 1: [Insert counter-rant]

Person 2: [Quote or misquote a current or former politican]

Person 1: [Quote or misquote a current or former politican]

Person 2: [Repeat inital rant, but louder]

Person 1: [Repeat counter-rant, but louder]

Person 2: [Assert blame, which typically begins with, “Yeah, but you….”]

Person 1: [Assert counter-blame, which also typically begins with, “Yeah, but you….”]

(Repeat as necessary)

Person 2:  @&$# %^+!!!

Person 1: What a jerk.

Person 2: What a jerk.

(Everyone walks away angry. Nothing changes.)
